My name is Neil Smith and I am a professional Microsoft Developer with over 15
years in the UK IT Industry.
I provide Contract Systems Development services to corporate clients across a
broad range of industries, including Finance, Media, Engineering and Management

client. I have a good reputation with clients and agents alike going back many

Project Experience
I have worked on 'green field' life-cycle developments and also fulfilled
development maintenance and support roles. I have experience of designing
computer systems from the ground up and am also adept at keeping the
wheels turning when it comes to existing corporate systems. I am an
experienced, intuitive problem solver.
I have extensive knowledge of web systems infrastructure, hosting, load
balancing and firewall security which greatly complements my development
skills. I wrote the Global IIS Web Hosting standards for
PriceWaterhouseCoopers. I also have good experience of object orientated
development techniques and database design and optimisation.
I am able to work efficiently in all three tiers of development and have GUI,
Middle Tier and Database design and build skills. I have carried out a number
of VB6 to .NET migration exercises and have completed a number of purely .NET
projects from the ground up.
I have a good grasp of all areas of the IT Development process and am good at
producing and maintaining design documentation. I have had exposure to
project management and advanced time estimating practices.
I stay on top of developments in technology and strive to adhere to best
practices wherever possible. I prefer to use quality code samples or design
patterns rather than re-invent the wheel, saving my clients time and money.
In addition to my technical abilities, I have broad life experience and am very
adept at interacting with business users on a day to day basis. I take great
pride in ensuring that the recipients of any technology in which I have had a
hand are confident and satisfied with the results.

old fashioned work ethic and believe that, when such times arise, one must roll
up one's sleeves and go that extra half mile to to achieve a professional
result.
